When it comes to luxury accommodation, boats can often pose a problem. It’s not just the fact that they’re on the move (seasickness and sliding mattresses aren’t great for romance or relaxation) but that even the greatest yachts or boats are primarily built to sail. But recently, we’ve noticed a rising tide in a different sort of boat, and that’s the boat-hotel – otherwise known as ‘boatel’.

What’s more, these boatels are getting increasingly luxurious and we’ve spotted quite a few that are really special in design.  They are designed to accommodate and not transport; it’s less about movement and more about indulgence.
