Less paper, more insight: AMEX’s new online travel guide

Sometimes luxury is more about convenience and comfort than having yet more tangible things. And yes, the tech world has been promoting digitization for years, but the question we’ve been asking ourselves lately: is it possible to blend paperless publications with quality content? Yes, is the answer. We’ve already seen it in the business, architecture, art and cultural worlds with the likes of Luxury Insider (www.luxury-insider.com), Economist (www.economist.com) and Dezeen (www.dezeen.com), and now we’re seeing it in relation to travel with increasingly innovative ways to stay light on load but heavy on information.

One of the best examples is Companion, the recently-launched online travel guide from American Express and Phaidon.

The brainchild of American Express and British publisher, Phaidon, Companion was originally inspired by the Companion Voucher, a British Airways Amex Card benefit (providing a complimentary second seat companion on a British Airways flight). The net result is this stylish paperless guide featuring insightful creative content on ten major international cities with two different viewpoints on each. What’s more, the opinions and imagery are gathered by passionate people with a zest for high end travel, including professionals those who live and work in each of the cities, many of whom are leaders in their chosen fields. Featured cities include; Reykjavik, Berlin, Barcelona, Sao Paulo, Rome and plenty more… This new collaboration will inject energy into any city break. We know who you’ll have in your pocket / on your screen. The only question now is where and when?
